Hello all. I recently bought a hatchling female Sonoran Gopher snake about a month ago. I try to handle her every day to get her used to it. She is fine with it, but almost every single time I put her down, she acts like a wild caught gopher snake (does the rattle with her breath, shakes her tail, and strikes at her tank). I don't mind being bitten (as I have been by many other types of snakes), but I definetly don't want her to grow into a 7 foot biter.
I guess my question is, does this species eventually mellow out? As it has been a month and if anything, I notice her becoming more aggressive. Overall though, these snakes have a ton of personality and have been my favourite. Still though, I don't want her snipping at me when she's full grown.
