Faded Albino

Hi!

Been awhile since I posted! My May litter is growing fast, and many are really pink! If any of you followed my previous posts you know that I had an albino runt born in a normal to pastel breeding. It was a complete surprise that the parents were hets! The albino had a knot in her umbilical cord and didn't absorb her yolk. It took a long time for her to take her first shed and eat her first meal. She is eating f/t mice on a regular basis, and is starting to fill in a bit. She is still small, but no health problems!

Anyways...when I search the classifieds I noticed that every Kahl albino neonate is really vibrant, and mine is very faded and almost a cream and pink rather than a white and red. She is also very speckled.

Does anyone have an albino that was very faded as a neonate and have some pics of them as they aged. I am curious how she will change as she gets older

P.S. Check out her eyes...they look like downward facing arrrows!

If i remember right you were worried about that one when it was born. Looks great now! It seems like albinos lose most of their contrast as they grow but develope varying amounts of pink/red highlights as they age. Its fun to watch em grow

Yes, you are right! My fiance makes fun of me, because I am always keeping an extra close eye on her. She has a special place in my collection, because I really didn't expect her to make it, and it is neat to see how much she is improving. I can't wait for her to start to grow into "herself" a bit!

I still have most of her siblings, and they are really doing so well. They never miss a meal, and they are coloring up nice. Many are super pink, and others are very pale. It is crazy that most of the babies took after dad since the mom is heavily speckled and dark.

Thanks for your reply....I hope she will continue to improve, and I will have lots more pics of her to post in the future!
