Redfoot with Burmese Brown?

Reptileszz Sep 20, 2008 06:28 AM

Hi all, does anyone have an opinion on keeping two babies of the above species together for some time? I have the baby redfoot in a 4x3 tortoise table situation presently and was thinking about getting a burmese brown. Would I be able to keep them together in this situation for awhile?

Some misc info:
It is in a temperature controlled "reptile room".
Misting system
Temps are 76 at night, 82-85 bacground temp by day, basking spot of 90-92 (varies a bit)
Cypress mulch and water for wading in.

Thanks,
Carole

You can keep them together.Your emys will need "less"Mazuri than your r.f. will require.Maybe a little more shade.Set up looks good.Maybe cover 1/4 with pegboard or more plant cover.Always make sure one dosnt hog up all the food.Emys tend to eat a lot at once.A r.f.might want to much a little at a time all day.Once they get bigger you can make an enclosure with room for you to walk around with them.Vic

Thanks Vic! I was thinking that I would need to watch the food intake carefully since the Burms seem to grow so much faster I wouldnt want that one scarfing it all down. In the end I think the Burm would need it's own walk in enclosure.

How fast do the Browns really grow? Are we talking like 2x as fast as a rf?

Thanks again,
Carole

What a great enclosure.

If I could get a guy, just like the one in that white shirt, holding a lantern in mine, i'd buy it tomorrow!
