How long would an 8'w X 2'd X 3'h last for a male burm? Could it live its whole life in something that size, or would it need something bigger eventually?

Hi there!
Not to insult your intelligence by any means but it really depends on the snake's genetics, how large it will get. Personally, I think it's possible that a male Burmese Python could live out its life in a cage that size. However, I wouldn't recommend it. My main concern is the cage's depth/width. If he gets 14ft or more he'll be a bit cramped in a cage with just a 2ft width.
It would be better if you could use the cage on it's side. It would just about be ideal then. Easier to heat, too.
Take care!

I really wish that was possible but the cage is not meant to be that way...thus why i am asking....I know that there are average sizes but then there are the sizes that they can obtian....and the whole genitics thing....sigh
It would be kept in my herp room which has steady temps in the upper 80's during the day and lower 80's at night with the humidity steady between 60-70

Scott,
About not being able turn the cage on its side - That figures. Usually the way it goes. I was sure that you had already thought of that & the genetics issue but mentioned them just to make sure all things were considered. Not everything's cut & dry, is it? At least, not in my world.
If I were thinking about buying a particular cage that size it would probably come down to the cost. Asking myself, "Can I get this at a low enough cost to where I won't be out much money if I were to ever need a bigger cage?"
Whether or not that cage would do for the snake's lifetime is subject to personal view. Some will say, "Yes, without a doubt." And some will say, "I like to give my snakes a lil' more room."
I can tell you're struggling with the decision. I would be, too. Maybe try not looking at the cost of the cage and ask yourself, regardless of the price, if that cage would be acceptable for your Burmese Python.
Hang in there!
Mike
