I can't find the plastic door track for home made cages at a decent price anywhere. Do you have a suggestion? The places I've looked online are expensive and want gobs for the shipping. Would hardware stores have this item? Please help!

I special order mine through my local glass store, same place I get laminated safety glass. Comes in 12' lengths and shipping is expensive if you order right away but the right salesman can get it on the next truck for real cheap.
I bought out the entire warehouse....LOL

I bought some very cheap plastic track, it was about fifteen bucks for upper and lower track, six feet long. I installed safety glass, sanded to be rounded and slightly rounded corners so it does not dig into the plastic. I noticed little microscopic plastic shavings still coming off every time I slide the doors, so I am worried that they are not going to last very long. I would seriously think about buying the rolling track next time, or just build some wooden frame that could be custom made to slide in a track on rollers or something like a regular window. The cheap plastic is just that. My .2cents…
This is close to the one I got, but I was able to find mine right in my town without shipping for it.
Rockler Woodworking and Hardware
4 foot plastic sliding door track – The cheapest type- $16.49 upper and lower.

This site also has a white plastic track for boats that looks like it fits really tight, like water resistant for a boat window.

Woodworker’s Supply
Three and four foot long assemblies of deluxe type roller with glass edging and the works, expensive but pretty deluxe.

Sorry for this bad picture, but this is the actual cage I built with the glass installed. Still under construction and experimenting with the Peltier chip, so nothing in it yet!

Check Outwater. They are cheap and with shipping may come out cheaper overall. They do require a 12' minimum but cut it to size for free.
Finding it locally can be tough.

Here is the link for Outwater. It was posted here a while back and I placed it in my favorites. Have been planning to order some but haven't gotten around to it yet.
