Liability insurance DWA in the UK

rabies Sep 06, 2003 03:54 AM

Hi
are there any UK venomous keepers out there who can help me out finding a reasonable insurance cover for the DWA application.I've only found "Exotics" and they want £162.50p for the policy and 1st snake and then £52.50p for every other snake, thats ridiculous money.Any insurance names or contact details would be very much appreciated.Thankyou
regards
John

I'm no insurance broker but given the costs involoved with a potential accident I think those prices seem very reasonable. Compared to the cost of antivenom it's peanuts. If a typical car cost £400 to insure, a house £150, then £150ish for £millions of public liability cover for a hot snake seems reasonable.

I'm not sure if they cover hots but E&L (Equine and Livestock) specialise in animal insurance with public liability so may be worth contacting.

Just a thought, Lee.

That's impressively cheap cover! Will have to remember those!

Cheers, lee.
