How often should a one year old dragon go to the restroom?

Doofy1577 Sep 06, 2003 04:52 AM

I posted before on here and I took some time replying to some ?'s the people who answered my post. I was wondering just how often should a healthy bearded dragon, at the age one year old, go to the restroom. I am wondering this because me and my girlfriend nortice our bearded dragon haven some problem trying to poop. well I ended up putting a deeper water dish in there and he finally went but that had been the 1st time in atleast a week that I can remember. I was thinking he could of been impacted from the crickets he has been eating. Could that be a possability. I read that older dragons start feeding more on vegatation then on live prey like crickets. so how would I start feeding him vegtables because right now the ONLY thing we have found he likes is Cucumbers. He will also eat freeze dried crickets. We are probably going to try some spinach and romane lettace next week when we get paid but how can I get him to start eating veggies? just starve him until he starts eating them or what?

Tanks everyone in the future for who ever asnwers

Right now we have seven adults, some go daily, some every few days and one thinks he can draw interest on his and saves it for a week!

Also, when they decide to slow down for brumation, which all ours are, they will slow eating and going, to stopping. Kind of scary if your not use to it.

But yes, you do need to start adding in some more salads and veggies. We have found that most dragons even if they never have had them before love collards, dandelions greens, yellow squash (this is a big favorite) and shaved carrots. Start with those and then add in other colorful veggies like chopped green beans, snow peas, pumpkin, sweet potatoe, snap peas (they loves these too)red and green peppers, small tomatoes. Some also like raspberries, strawberries, peaches and pears.

Romaine is okay as an added item with other greens, but not to nutritional alone. There are good diet recommendations for bearded dragons on the web, below is a link to the one I use with some variations according to the season.
