Incubation tips?

FredLobster Sep 20, 2008 11:02 PM

Hey folks, I've been raising leopards and sulcatas for a few years now but I think I might be getting some sulcata eggs this year.

What's the best incubator to use?
Any recommendations for online tip sheets?

Thanks for the help.

I have had good success with an inexpensive Hovabator, the simple one, no fans or turning devices. However, it does not have redundant systems, and if the wafer fails, you might lose a valued clutch. Still, I have hatched 100's of snake eggs with them, and some Testudo eggs as well, and the wafer has not failed. I bought an Avey incubator, made with an ice chest. It seems very accurate, originally designed for the very fussy parrot breeders for brooding etc. If you are handy you can make one from one of those dorm style/motel type refrigerators. You probably need a good one, as you may have a lot of eggs, and G. pardalis may take a long time... good luck, Vic H.
