questions about a new beardie

tj_sa1816 Sep 21, 2008 05:32 PM

I have had a young bearded dragon for about a month now. He seems to be doing great but the other day he escaped from his cage. He was in a short 20 gallon with no lid and jumped out i guess. I moved him to a taller cage with a lid and he hasn't pooped since then which was yesterday he is also gaping his mouth more often. The basking spot is 115-117 the cool side of the tank is almost always within a degree of 83. He is eating fine and i am pretty sure he is well hydrated. Oh and I have a reptisun 5.0

Do you mist or bathe your dragon? Also you need to get the UVB closer to him. I would consider switching to a MVB to help witht that.

Is your dragon showing darkened colors?
I know sometimes an enclosure switch can stress them a little.
Not pooping for a day shouldnt be a problem
3-4 at that age I would be asking questions.
My 11 monther poops every 4 days on a clock, I place paper towel on her poop tile in the morning every 4 days, and I get home from work, theres a nice present for me.
Good luck!
