It has been a while . . .

. . . since I've kept some of these beauties. I used to have a pair that I purchased from Jim Kane more than a decade ago as a Christmas gift to myself . Produced some beautiful hatchlings from that pair for sometime but my female suddenly passed away a couple of winters ago so I sold her mate. I really missed working with them for the longest time and I'm glad to say that I was able to pick up a beautiful pair from our friend Randy W.(colubridman) this year. These are simply one of the gems of Pituophis. Hope you guys like the pic. Just sharing my excitement.

Beautiful Pit! Here's mine below, not as nicely contrasty as yours but might sharpen up. He's an '07 and is now about 30". Very shy but handles easy and never nippy.

Hi Monklet

That's a nice colored Cape Gopher Snake. I like the contrast of the black and orange on the posterior area of the animal. It should produce some outstanding babies.

Hi Lloyd

Nice to hear that he is still doing well. I know that they are in good hands. BTW, did you breed him this year?

Jonel what kind of camera are you using? Mine has seen better days.
Here are the two mothers to your pair.
Thanks again. Randy

Hi Randy

I use my trusty Panasonic DMC-FZ7 super zoom camera. It's also a couple of years old now but it still does the job done. I'm sure there are better cameras out there now. I'm actually looking into some DSLRs now and currently doing research which one would fit my needs. But I will definitely keep this one as a back-up.

When I had deppei, I considered adding a few of this species as well. Then I ran into health issues (OK, old age) that precluded me from keeping ANYTHING in my snakeroom. This photo is tempting me once again. But my envy extends to your photography skills as well. Photos don't get any better than this. That simply adds to the temptation, alas.
