What exactly is a mercury vapor bulb? Does it provide heat as well as UV and what kind is most recommended for young beardies?

Most MVB's provide heat as well as UVB. I say most cause there is one from ReptileUV that does not produce much heat. I like the T-Rex brands and any of the ones from Reptile UV. They, in my opinion, are the best source of UVB for reptiles.
As for size...it all depends on your setup. Most should do ok with the 100w. Although, the bigger enclosures may need the 160w.
