I had a mangrove many years ago who used to do the same thing. I eventually switched her over to p/k to avoid the whole situation. The longer it took her to kill her mice, the greater the probability that the mouse could injure her. You should definitely try pre-killed mice for Rick - safer for him and more humane for the mice.

Yeah, its not a new method but not a very common one for one thing.

Some other methods that are used are bashing a prey against something, waiting it out for the animal to tire out or bleed to death, catching it by its throat. Some of the oddiest tech. I see my monitors use to kill their preys are tail lashing and one monitor my friend has, an ornated nile, uses the ceramic bulb to fry his victims, weird huh? He carries his prey and toss them on the open bulb, which is extremely hot. Its kind of weird, he tells me that the monitor never touches the bulb himself and has used this technique since he was a juv.

Hell also soetimes garb it by the back more toward the tail and bash its head and body against the glass of his driftwood vicisouly he hasnt done this though since the new water method, his all time favorite is the ol grab em by the throught and colapse the trachia trick.

Anyways just thought id share my monitors killing tech's.

Thanks
Sean
