Defecation

RyanCS Sep 24, 2008 09:28 PM

I have a ball python, and he has not defecated in at least a month. He feeds well, but I am almost 100% sure this cannot be normal. Am I just paranoid or should I take him to vet? Is there anything I can do at home before I have to take him to a vet, or are there no other options? Thanks for the input.

Yeah, try giving him a luke warm soak. Worked everytime for my beardies...

I have a few ball pythons that go about a month before defecation, but I have also heard that a luke warm soak stimulates the intestines.

Thanks for the help, but after getting paranoid enough to post on here he ended up taking a crap last night. And it must have been worth the wait, because it was huge. Thanks again.

well if the temps and humidity are good...
is the food big enough?
maybe hes burring it? (j/k lol)

speaking of food size..my lil guy may get bigger food here soon himself. but i still have some hoppers in there...so ill try twice a week until they are gone...then maybe try something a tad bigger...
i fed him last night and there werent any "food lumps" when he was done eating...so ...
anyways...just keep an eye on him...perhaps hes getting ready for shed? just take note of how hes acting and what he looks like.
i dont care what people say..snakes have personalities and body language just like anything else...and sometimes facial expressions too, if you pay attention
good luck~~~
