Off Topic - A nice picture day

hayseed Sep 25, 2008 03:55 PM

Been some nice sunny days here in Ohio, but gonna be getting colder soon. Had to get a few more python pics while it was still warm.

This is "Bastard". Not such a nice name, but he's a very special boy. A real rescue for me. But when I first took him home he would bite anything that moved...thus the name. He got me good a few times. That was years ago and now he is sweet like a puppy.

It was spelled Dammit. I was nice and left out the N. hahahaha But he got his name because he was very evil and most comments directed his way began with "Damn it!" anyways.

I once had a cat named "Surely" which was short for "Surely Not" whisch was short for "Surely Not Another Damned Cat"!

I'm glad you like Bastard. He's a beautiful boy. I took him in from someone who was not caring for him and was afraid of him. He was skin and bones, starved, kept too cold and dry and wasn't shedding properly. I had to suffer some blood, literally, to get him back in shape. Now it is a joy to see him fat and happy.

But I'll get back on topic and try for some new collared pics next.

We can talk snakes and cats and anything crittery hehehe, it's a bit slow right now, we are just " SHARING" when people talk everyday some of us for YEARS now, we have to share family stuff, it's impossible not to,

As much as I like Bastard, I couldn't feed him furry lil things

Hey. You bring up a good point. I also hate to kill any furry little things. My mother thinks I'm just terrible for that. But I always remind her that this is what snakes eat. I always remind her too of what exactly is in that store-bought dog and cat food. Our dog and cat food started out as furry little things or furry big things. I also remind her that our freezers are full of chicken, cows and pigs. There is no difference between an animal eating a mouse or a cricket or a pig. People eating pigs is no different either. Believe it or not, I am actually a vegetarian since I was about 16 years old. My wife, on the other hand is very carnivorous. But I love a snake just as much as I love a mouse, and a snake's gotta eat.

But this is an interesting philosphical point, because there is a difference between a wild animal hunting down a mouse and me intentionally feeding a prekilled frozen mouse. And, what about all those Big-Macs and Whoppers? Something to think about. And what about going out into the woods and shooting Bambi. I've often thought that Bambi should have a shot gun too.

Maybe when we die we're all going to hell and there will be a million crickets and mice and rats waiting there for us. EEEeeeeeek.

Here's another thought.....what if aliens came to earth and saw us as a food source. Then WE become the crickets. Eeeeek.

Just something to think about.

I know they have to eat, just like when I watch wildlife programs and the big cats chase down some mothers new born calf/ antelope infant whatever, a few minutes before they allowed you to watch her give birth to this beautiful little thing.... I absolutely love the big cats and admire their awesome beauty, but I change the channel, so I do not have to watch lol.

I understand nature can be a *&%$# sometimes. And yes I eat meat, fish, so forth, I would not if I had to go and kill it, and look at faces , if it's already packaged and no longer appears like a critter. I will eat it. LOL,

Feeding your guy pre- killed, is much better tan picking out a cute rat, or piggy, bunny, or mouse that you have gotten to know or have watched grow, and hand it over to something that you know is about to horrify it as it is being crushed/ squeezed to death,,,, Some people run to watch the whole thing, thats what I do not like.

Also I totally agree with your Bambi senerio, ARM the beasts, lol, give them a fair chance.
** Killing for much needed food is one thing if done in a humane way, but killing for the sport of hanging some animals head on your wall or making a rug out of it , or stuffing it to show others your trophy is WRONG in my mind.

As far as the aliens, funny, I saw a twilight zone segment with aliens that made friends with us and were organizing trips back to their planet, people were lining up to get to go..... hehehehe
As the alien ship doors were about to close a person aboard happens to see a "COOKBOOK" belonging to the aliens,,,,, and relizes where they are going and why , LMAO

Talk about horrified, could you imagine.

I don't buy frozen baby mice anymore because the people at the petstore admittedly told me they kill them by freezing them instead of humanely kill them in the CO2 chamber. I'm not sure about Petco, though, but I do buy large frozen rats from them for my ball python. Either that or I buy live ones from the petstore and kill it myself, which I've done, but did not enjoy it and I will not be doing it again. LOL

My boyfriend's parents have a cat named Bastard. They changed it to Baxter when they realized they didn't want to have to call it Bastard in front of the grandparents.

His cousin has a cat named Sexual. I have no explanation for this except that his cousins are weird.

PHEve Sep 27, 2008 12:55 PM

With his family so WEIRD like this,,,, hehehehe are ya SURE you know what your getting INTO, ahhahahaha LMAO
