Cool!...but, don't be too quick to take my word for what I think could be happening (I kind of hope that they're simple recessive axanthic, actually.)

Congrats, Chris.

I guess we will find out.... till then I guess I dont know what to call them, I cant think of anything cool

That female is a beauty. I love a really nice, normal patterned animal. Good luck with the eggs.

MikeMurphy Sep 29, 2008 10:46 AM

BTW, what's the genetic background on the adults?

CFlowers Sep 29, 2008 11:33 AM

I think the info on their ackground is on my site. or pm me if you wanna know more

dustyrhoads Sep 29, 2008 01:00 PM

anyway since this has been a public discussion, thought we should keep this public...

you said this "hey again. so what if they have only normal looking babies? then what? we know that they have already produced one grey."

Well, the thing is...Grays typically don't hatch out Gray...they start out normal. So your adults are both F1s from the female, correct? I'd say that if there are no Silver babies (that are BORN silver-colored) in your clutch OR Aaron's clutch (from her bred to her F1), then we can pretty much safely say that they're not simple recessive...yes, there are rare examples of ontogenetic recessive traits in various species, as Sue pointed out, but it certainly seems to be the exception, not the rule.

There are three pages of this topic here (below)...hope that helps, and good luck...

You can publicly discuss anything ya want about me like how I sleep in the buff I don't care.
But man this pickering about these Black Gaps is kinda gotten out hand the more and more I read about it... ahhh nevermind I got a headache already.
So from now on the unless something silver pops its head outta the egg in nov the babies I produce are nothing more than
100% PURE BLACK GAP LOCAITLY SUBOCS.

PEACE OUT

>>You can publicly discuss anything ya want about me like how I sleep in the buff I don't care.

Wow, Chris.

I didn't think we were discussing anything public about you personally...just continuing this thread is all. Sorry that offended you.

You sent me two e-mails, back-to-back, about a day apart, asking me the same thing twice, both of which I thought were just a continuation of this thread here, and I was under no obligation to answer either, but I did answer them for you, so you'd think just a simple "thank you" would have sufficed.

And I don't think anything is out of hand here, unless more than one opinion isn't aloud on forums anymore. If anything, Aaron and I have presented quite a bit of information for you to consider and feast on. So, if you don't like the help you're given from my end, you can always seek opinions from others. I don't pretend to have the last word on suboc genetics.

I am not and have not been offended. im am just saying as for my pair im not goin to assume anything unless a silver comes out.
all I have is a pair of F1s from Aarons silver colored female. so like I just said in the last post if I done see a silver colored animal in my cultch the its pretty safe to safe the babies are F2 black gap normals which is still cool for me
so don't think im mad because im not I just got six good eggs im happy with that thanks for your opinions

dustyrhoads Sep 30, 2008 10:28 AM

Cool. I'm truly sorry for that last post then. I guess I mistook your meaning. I hate it when that happens.

Cheers,

Dusty
