Can beardies get all of their water from their diet? Or must you soak them weekly?
Also, do you guys recommend keeping water dishes available? Or does this raise humidity levels too high?
Thanks!
Bruce

neither of mine have a water dish, I drip water on their nose every day or 2
they lick up a few drops,
I also spray the greens in their bowl, to make them extra wet,
Some people say that having a water dish in the tank, the dragon will or can start to be 'water bowl trained' taking their dumps in water, easily cleaned...
Freshly washed or misted greens and plump insects (especially soft bodied worms like silkworms) can provide the bulk of a dragon's moisture needs.
A small water dish is fine to have in the cage as well, and regular misting on the dragon for youngsters is recommended as babies dehydrate faster than adults. I would avoid putting in water dishes large enough for dragons to actually soak their bodies in completely, especially if dragons are inclined to poo in the water. If left to sit for awhile, bacteria will grow like crazy in a warm water (heated by the basking light etc). Just makes a smellier scummier mess to clean in my opinion. This is just over a few hours, as we can't always be home to change the water dish the instant a dragon poos in it. I hate coming home from work to the smell of water soaked poo from my skinks.

I have 16 active enclosures with 21 BD's in them. All have large water dishes. I use Zoo Med's Reptirock Large Water Dishes. They're about 6" x 9". Not large enough for them to soak in but large enough for them to stand in. Although it has happened, I can't remember the last time a dragon pooped in one. It's probably been more than a year. I run the bowls and dishes through the dish washer nightly and put them back in the am. Rarely have I seen them drink from them but I have seen it.
I also mist the salads and have a bottom full of water in the salad bowl to keep the greens moist. I use an eyedropper occasionally if I feel someone's dehydrated. I only bath mine now if they're dirty.
