Feeding question..

texasboa71 Sep 06, 2003 01:08 PM

I have a baby ball that I gave both a mouse fuzzy and a rat pink (both alive) to last night and when i woke up this morning, I was pleased to see he ate. But he ate both of them. I guess this is good news since i eventually have to convert him to rats anyway. But has anyone ever put both a mouse and rat in at same time and been succesful?

Hi,

I've never tried live mice/rats so I couldn't help you on that part, but, with frozen/thawed mice/rats I have had success alternating between the two when I couldn't acquire the correct type/size.

Are you new to keeping boas?

No, I had a 10 year old columbian boa that I had from birth that died about 2 months ago. I am probably going to buy a surinam boa sometime this month. I like ball pythons but i think boas are my thing. I've had 2 other ball pythons but didn't have any luck with them. My first snake was a baby ball python back in 93 that only lived for a couple months. My other ball was given to me that also didn't make it. So, I think my luck is about to turn around with the one i have now. Except for the shedding problem, this ball is doing very well. I'm starting to mist his cage, so hopefully the shedding problem will go away. Like i said, he is eating very well so I'm hoping to have this ball along time.
