This snake is so cool!

tokaysrnice Sep 27, 2008 04:41 PM

Man This male Pseustes is a cool snake! He's definitely starting to get into the groove, doesn't seem nearly as agro, is cruising his cage quite a bit more and I don't have to annoy him as much when tease feeding.

The female finally took a small quail after being force-fed the last couple months, believe me I've tried everything except live lizards or frogs. She's being a PITA so no pics of her. She is however still growing and functioning so I think its only a matter of time before she gets going.

Here's his cage, usually theirs a couple of shot glasses with water as wel as a dish on the bottom. He has a UV bulb on 6 hours a day and a UTH kept at 82. His basking spot is a 40w incandescent witch provides a temp of 96 directly underneath. Two of the four bamboo nodes are also stuffed with sphagnum moss for humid hides. I think he may be getting big enough to move to the dishwasher cage.

The female is kept the same way but in a smaller Neodesha. Both thier humidities are being kept at 50%. With spraying once or twice a day it peaks around 80% for several hours.

Can't wait to see them at 10 feet!

tokaysrnice Sep 27, 2008 05:42 PM

I hope they get that big but I think they're gonna be alot like Spilotes in size, who can also reach "very long". I'll be happy when any of these snakes reach 9', thats still one honkin' colubrid.

The Sire was definatley one impresive animal.

Had you tried scenting the rodents with chicken soup? It works great.
