Thermal Gradient...

jlassiter Sep 27, 2008 07:51 PM

What temperatures are your thermal gradients?
How hot is your hot side?
How cool is the cool side?
Or do any of you guys/gals keep your snake room/area at one temp?
What temp?
Just curious...

once again i use my base board heat,... and i dont have a perfect temp for spring/summer/fall... i just turn the heat off in the summer and keep the door closed so the a/c doesnt mess with the warmth... sometimes it does get warm so i turn on a fan.... but usually i can tell if its too hot or cold... i'm a warm body and like warm temps.. but i can tell once it starts getting into the mid-high 80s.... sorry.. i'm not as strict as some people... but i have at last count 138 snakes and they seem to be fine

I'm glad your snakes are thriving....
I had just about that many when I got out of it a few years back.
I live in South Texas....
And...If my A/C was turned off the snake room would hit 100F in pretty darn fast....A fan would not help......I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY.....

Thanks for the info....

I keep them at room temp. I have found that the temp of about 80 to 82 mine thrive and eat better. When I used to keep them at 83-85 hot end they didn't do as well.

I have found that my thayeri like it on the cool side. I have baseboard heat, but of course the heat rises, so it's cooler on the floor than at the top. I put my thayeri on the bottom shelf, that way the cool side is about 65, and if they choose to use the flexwatt tape, they can get up to about 90.
