What can you guys tell me about CITES? Is everything listed as a CITES animal illegal to sell or own? How do you get around owning and selling captive born and bred species that are listed?

You might want to try the "Herp Law and CITES" forum on this website.

Basically, CITES only applies to the import and export of listed animals. Not all animals are listed and once they are in country you can do what ever you want. That goes for listed animals that were imported pre-CITES as well.

I can tell you that it doesnt apply at all to Milks in this country. Check your state laws though, they may apply. Go to the herp law forum for the info.
