Question about African soft furs

kingofspades Sep 29, 2008 04:30 AM

So I keep reading that African Soft furs are better for snakes. My question is...do snakes become "addicted" to them like they do hamsters or gerbils?
I heard once you feed them gerbils, they don't want to eat anything else.
I was debating getting some ASF rats because I heard they breed better.

Some snakes do get addicted, some don't. We have a female pastel ball that used to eat rats and after a few ASFs doesn't want rats anymore. Though, none of our colubrids got addicted. There are a few that even don't like them.

ASFs do breed better than mice, and smell less. But they are also great destroyers of everything that is not made of glass or metal. I personally like them

I have some of these, but find they are just not big enough to feed ball pythons...great for smaller snakes and maybe really stubborn and picky young ball pythons...

they are cute and interesting as pets though...and socialize easily. But they are definitely chewers, seen them dangle by their front feet for ten minutes so they can chew that favorite corner or ridge they discovered somehow...

Can anyone tell me a good source for frozen / mailorder ASFs?
