Help does anyone recognize these?

dangerdan Sep 29, 2008 11:32 AM

I bought these 2 years ago from Amazon Reptile Center in Montclair. I am trying to find out the locale. I am sure someone knows where these came from.

Thanks.

Hi Dan -

They look like gaps from photos I have seen posted of gaps, but I also must say that GBKs are so variable that there is really not telling. They could be another locale or a mix. Problem is, for the sake of honesty, if Amazon gave you no info it seems you would have to describe them as "generic" with a really interesting pattern. Have you tried to get back in touch with Amazon about these for background info? It seems they would be your first best stop.

Good luck, nice looking animals.

Those snakes are likely from a lineage perpetuated by Dan Coffey in southern California. He was quite successful breeding them over a few generations, and their color pattern abberancies became more pronounced in succeeding filial generations. The founder stock was comprised of wild snakes from BBNP (Panther Junction) mixed with Hwy 170 some 20 years or more back. Dan started with captive produced animals, he did not collect the founders. Those who did may wish to speak up here or not, it's not my call to reveal any names. Hope this helps provide some possible clarification.

Unless you can trace the line back with certainty they are generic. There is just no way to say with enough certainty what locality they came from by looking at them. Your only source for this data will be the seller.

Nice looking animals, but I would present them as generic and not imply any locality data.
