ok, i know for lots of you this is something to roll your eyes at because you are big breeders; been at this for year...please share your experience with us very VERY new people. or suggest a book? or a website?
OR if anyone knows a breeder within the atlanta ga area that would hire helpers...that would be right up my alley too...THANKS

Hey there,

I don't know how much help I would be but I started my ball python obsession this past year with just a normal male ball python. I've successfully hatched two clutches on my first try so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get going. I suggest reading, reading, reading and more reading. There were countless hours where I cross referenced many of the sites out there to find every tip and trick I could about ball pythons from the basic history to breeding to raising. Buy books, don't be shy in spending money on a good piece of literature because you will reference it a lot. After that, you just have to decide what you want to do, decide on a goal/project and invest in the morphs that will take you there. I started off without a goal and found myself not sure of which morphs I should keep for the time being due to the rising cost of food and electricity. This is not a run of the mill hobby and you will have to invest alot of time energy, space... it's like a step below having kids, you just don't have to worry about college tuition. (just a tip, raising your own snake food comes in handy.)

Good advice.

I'd like to add a quote i read years ago.."You don't go into business, you grow into business"..It won't happen overnight,so loving what you do is a big part of it(Because you will have to do it for quite a while before it pays.)

Good luck.

Books are nice!!! keep an eye on the post I made just before (McCurley Vs. Barker) you because people should be recommending different books to it soon as some already have.

google search and compair info, start to puzzle things together and read other peoples questions on forms, start to guess the right answer if there is one and then see what other compair. Please note guess not post your answer unless you know it is right, just to help keep confusion down.

And always keep in mind, if you don't know, you think you know, or you just want to double check ask!!! KS is great for that.

Also, I know its hard, but i recommend investing more into permanent quality caging in the beggining. It will be the best reptile investment you can make while you get more time to really observe the market of the animals you want
