Is it true that they have the strongest bite force for any crocodilian?

No they do NOT. Most large Crocs of any of the larger species are quite similar in force. The larger the beast the more psi force. All except for very slender snouted crocodilians can muster 2,000-3,000 lbs. In fact because C. intermedius has a rather slender snout for its size it probably averages slightly less force. As far as taking a bite goes it doesn't matter that much as we'ed be changed for life if a human took a bite from a 10' croc..lol...TC

Thanks for the reply, thats what I figured but I was watching a show on animal planet called raw nature and they stated that the Orinoco Crocodile had the strongest bite force in the world at 5,000 psi.

I don't believe any croc has yet measured that force but I believe with 18-22' crocs[porosus maybe if there are still any that large] could possibly but not intermedius. Again that's a T.V. show being over dramatic......TC

Adult Nile croc bite force has been measured at 5000lbs with a bite meter. It wasn't a controlled test but it was a standard bite meter.

I wouldn't be surprized on a big one with the massive head they have, just wasn't aware that that much force had actually been documented....TC

I'm sure we really haven't found the true measure of what these animals are really capable of doing.

By the way I saw that show and a 9' intermedius like that one probably has around 1,500-1,800 LBS PSI bite force. Believe me thats serious enough....TC
