Color Question

Hayseed Sep 30, 2008 07:18 AM

Hey everyone. I think I know the answer to this but I was curious to hear from those with more experience.

My Collareds have been displaying a lot of color changes recently. They seem to be doing well, eating a lot, and very active. These are from Texas and the girls have a lot of yellow on their feet and legs. Recently, after a lot of pampering the yellow color has really been coming out and I see increasing blue and green colors on their hind legs and sides. My male is also coloring up more often too.

Sometimes I notice that their color is much more faded in the morning when they are just coming out of their hides and starting to bask.

Is all this color change partly related to age? They were juveniles when I got them and starting to grow. Or is this more related to good health and management of stress, etc. Or "D all the above"? Should I expect to see more coloring up as they grow older?

Thanks,

Hayseed

John, they colorup as they grow/ and with each shed, as they are growing. Certainly good care is a major plus as with neglect they can not thrive in any area. But color can get brighter, and appear as blues/ greens yellows as they are are maturing.

**Remember they are not fully mature until about 3 year old.

**Also they are dark/ dull and cold in the morning ( cold blooded animals) they need the sun/ or heat and light (indoors) to get their metabolism going, so as they heat hence the color begins to brighten, as they get cooler or cold, the color gets darker and more dull, and body gets cooler as metablism slows.

And that's that,
