Viper Gecko Questions

firehooligan Sep 06, 2003 03:25 PM

I just purchased 3 beautiful adult viper geckos today(2 females, 1 male). I was wondering if I could feed them small silkworms once in a while? I also think I made a mistake already. I bought white calci-sand for them. If the females laid eggs, will I be able to find them in the sand? Is there a trick to find the eggs without breaking or turning them? Thanks for everything.

Matt

I dont see a problem with feeding silkworms, but just make sure theyre not too big. You might have a hard time finding white eggs, in white sand, thats why i use Red repti-sand for my stenodactylus. Try using a spoon, or the edge of a paper, and gently scoop away the sand, and look for the eggs deposited by the female. Also, you can try having a layer of saran-wrap, a 1/2 inch from the the top substrate, so the eggs stick onto it, and dont sink deeper into the sand.
