Amarali.. I'm out! (not by choice).

RioBravoReptiles Sep 30, 2008 12:35 PM

.. I made an arrangement with a local guy I've known for almost 20 years to take my Amarali project.. with us splitting this year's offspring and more.. He absconded with the animals, won't reply to any messages or contacts.. and I understand from 3rd parties he sold the animals! (now confirmed to be true) .. so if you see something like this (photos) advertised as my stock.. it may be true but the sellers are scoundrels and crooks!
.

.

.
The exception being Jon's Jungle.. a great guy who did buy a group of my animals..
.
No attempt here to start any wars or flames.. just an FYI for interested parties.
.
Be good!

What goes around comes around. It's ashame that people do things like that, but I always have faith in karma.

Unfortunately it's been done many times before. I know one guy who claimed that animals on loan, that had been purchased from me, died while on loan. Then the fellow who bought them from me, and loaned them to a fellow he had mistakenly believed to be honest, wasn't so honest after all. He found out somebody else actually had them. Turns out the one dishonest fellow sold the "dead" Boas. When confronted, he did admit it and he was all apologetic. It's pretty easy to be apologetic when you're found out. It's a stinking shame that someone you knew for so long would steal from you. Who needs "friends" like that!?

That is terrible after 20 years, to get burnt like that deflates your trust in people.

Hey Gus...If you communicated with this individual via internetor other wire, telephone, or mail, file a complaint with the FBI or the United States Postal Inspector for wire or mail fraud. They may or may not request a filing by the United States Attorney's Office, but chances are they will investigate and determine if fraud was involved.

After working like a banshee with my animals "watched" by a guy I knew for a couple years....a guy who I PAID to watch my animals....I am in Daytona a walk by a table and said "I got stuff just like that at home"...and I didnt. I traced the animals back to the pet shop they were sold to and even with police notified and proof that they were my snakes(photo ID etc)I had to buy my own snakes back at full cost. But of course most of the collection was gone. The police in Va beach refused to press charges because "they were only snakes"....lost my WHOLE collection, so I feel your pain buddy!

Jonathan_Brady Oct 01, 2008 06:58 AM

I'm really sorry to hear that Gus. IMO, people like this need to be hit by a bus repeatedly at low speeds until they almost die. And then YOU get to roll over them with said bus! Oh, and you get your animals back.

I do understand and sympathize. Once a small percentage "partner" stole a group of 6.3 adult proven Galapagos Tortoises and sold them to another friend of mine right here in Fl. and the cops said it was civil and not criminal and the "partner" absconded to Canada and I couldn't afford to buy the Tortoises back and my "friend" in Fl. refused to give them back. This happened in 1990. So much for trust and friendship. By the way the "partner" had been a friend for 20 years at least.....TC....Talk about a SERIOUS MONEY LOSS!!!!LOL

Gus,
Your story sounds painful! However, most individuals we call friends are realy associates waiting for their time in the light. A true friend... is just that. Rare.

Marc.

Same old song -- different verse. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.
It is a strange obsession/addiction. People so afflicted do do things they wouldn't ordinarily do.
Sorry to hear that Gus.

I'm sorry, I don't understand your reply.
I was truly offering my sympathy. Big name or not, those of us that have been doing this for decades all understand your frustration.
If I have offended, I apologize.

Sucks. I would be a bit less "forgiving" in this situation. But maybe that is the whiskey talking. Sorry to hear this kind of thing still goes on with even the best of em.

So sorry to hear this Gus, you've always been a real standup guy and an asset to the community as a whole!!!

Duh the worst part is your loss, clearly!!!

Sounds like there's not much recourse you have except to chalk it up to a real loser and trust in Karma.

The second worse part of these type actions is the stain on the overall reputation of the community as a whole. Makes it even more scary for us to trust one another. Of course the reality is most of us are (at a minimum) basically honest and I would hope most of us understand the value of a good repution.
