Sulfur Mojave x Sulfur Mojave!

Eric Sandoval Sep 30, 2008 07:13 PM

As promised here they are. They just hatched so post shed pics will follow in a couple weeks. I can't be 100% sure what each one is. The first one I'm pretty sure is your typical Black Eyed Lucy, it has the yellow spots. The second is another Black Eyed Lucy with no spots, I actually have 2 of these. Now they could be Mojave Black Eyed Lucys or even Super Mojave Black Eyed Lucys, not sure which eye color would be dominant. The third animal, I think, is a Sulfur Super Mojave. The eyes are just a little different than the typical Super Mojave and it is nearly as white as the Black Eyed Lucys are. There is just the slightest bit of color on the head. That means the striped Sulfur Mojave Yb is het for all three types of Leucistic ball pythons, kinda cool.

Thanks for looking,
Eric

simply amazing that super sulfer female is smokin congrats.

lizardlance77 Sep 30, 2008 07:33 PM

That's so unusual because most super mojave's are blue eyed.
Very cool; congrats.

The Black Eyed Lucys are Super Sulfurs. The Sulfur is a new line of Fire that I've been working with for a few years now.

Are sulfers compatible with fires then? Would breeding the two together produce black eyed lucys? The snakes look awesome!!!!

Eric Sandoval Sep 30, 2008 08:34 PM

I haven't crossed them with the original line, but would bet money you'll get lucys from a fire x sulfur breeding. Most people including myself figured that's what they were all along.

your line of a Fire Morph?

Eric Sandoval Oct 01, 2008 12:54 PM

Exactly. Originally back in 05' and 06' I wasn't referring to them with a name, I just told people they were similar to fires. After a couple negative emails from people working with fires, saying there is no way they are or they look nothing like them. Dave Reid who owns the founding female came up with the Sulfur name.

They are all beautiful! Do you know how frequently a black eyed lucy hatches without the random orange spots? It seems lately that all the black eyed lucies I've seen have had the spots. They are still beautiful

Last time I was on kingsnake there was just mojaves...is it a new line of mojave? please post pics thanks

Eric Sandoval Oct 01, 2008 01:10 PM

The sulfur mojave is a cross between a moajve and a sulfur. Here's a pic of a sulfur mojave with a normal and a sulur mojave yb.

Eric ,

don't you think that the "Black Eyed" Lucys are actually Super Sulfers ? Mojaves DO NOT produce black eyeds , so therefore , even if it was a double super...the black would definetly dominate the light blue eyes of a Super mojave .

I agree with you, I was wondering the same thing. The Super Mojaves we produced this year had blue eyes, that is all I have ever seen from a Super Mojave clutch. Black eyeds are common in fire clutches. If the Sulfur is acting as a fire, or is just a renamed fire then the black eyed would make sence. Here are some pics of our super Mojaves, just my opinion, but I would say the first two are super Sulfur with possibly Mojave in them, and the last pic is maybe a super sulfur super mojave or a super Mojave sulfur and that is why it dosent have a typically darker super mojave head.

Just my thoughts

The two all white black eyed snakes are super sulfurs with the potential of carrying the mojave gene as well. The one with the yellow blotches I'm assuming is a just a super sulfur. The last one I'm fairly certain is a sulfur super mojave. If it was a double super I'd think there wouldn't be any color at all. Once they shed I'll take some pics of her next to a regular super mojave for comparison.

Sorry I re-read the original post and I thought you were saying the 2 balck eyeds were super mojaves. Now I understand what you are saying, and yes I do Agree. Great animals. I really like the super sulfer with the yellow blotches. I like dirty white snakes

Yes, the Black Eyed Lucys are Super Sulfurs. I was stating that they also have the potential to carry one or even two copies of the mojave gene as well. Now as far as a double lucy Blue/Black eyed in one snake I don't think it's been done and I'm not sure what the eye color would be. It could really go either way or be somewhere in between. The only male in the clutch is the one with yellow blotches so it's going to be a while before I figure it out.
