Ball Python Rack

Im going to make a ball python rack and was wondering about putting smaller tubs with the big ones. I wanted to use flexwatt. Is my only option to use multiple thermostats to control different sized tubs? Ive seen people with racks with different sized tubs using one thermostat. Are there thermostats controlling certain sized tubs differently or is it something else?
