Need HELP!!! Leopards not feeding well.

KevinM Sep 30, 2008 10:06 PM

I bought a young adult male albino leopard this past December and had an opportunity to get a pair of adult females from a buddy of mine. The male is doing great, but the new females do not appear to be feeding well, if at all. Its hard to monitor mealworm intake from their bowl, but it isnt't drastic enough to notice. I tried feeding them off of tongs as my buddy suggested, but they refuse. Offerings included crickets, mealies, and supers. Neither appear ultra thin, but I am worried. The females are housed together and separate from the male. They were housed with another male before I got them, but the male they were with sold at Daytona. They are housed together (females only) in a 32 qt. sterlite box, heat pad on one end, hides, calcium dish, water dish, and moist area. Do females turn off for some reason during this time of the year? I am stumped as to the problem. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
KevinM

Depending how long you have had them they might just need time to get used to their new home. This can take a few weeks. They might have been in terrairiums and not used to the tubs, or the temps might be off for them. My adult geckos start to eat less this time of year. Don't worry to much unless there is a change in their droppings or they start to lose weight. GL
