sexing help please

trex8692 Oct 01, 2008 08:34 PM

i have a baby (dont know if its still one) that is about 4.5 inches from snout to vent and about 6 inches from snout to tailtip

i think that this is a sexable age am i correct?

for the past two weeks ive tried on two occaisions to locate preanal pores but i couldnt find any. i was wondering if this was a sign that itd be a yet to mature male or a definite female.

is there a 100% surefire way besides preanal pores to do sexing?

look for a slight lump, and check out the first part of the tail.

that was helpful but im not exactly sure what you mean

could you provide a pic or something?

I don't have any pics, sorry. If you look at lots of other ones available online, the first ring on the tail of males is thicker. Also, the point where the tails joins the body is more furrowed in males. When I first got mine, I found putting them into one of those critter keeper plastic cages let you get a real good look. Just lift it up and look for as long as you want. Hope this has been a little clearer.

That might be a little young to be sure, but if you can post a clear photo of the base of the little guy or girl's tail, people here could give their opinions at least.

These sites have good pictures for sexing. The only problem I have is that all my females have bulges at the base of their tails so you can't go with just the bulges. GL
