My gopher snake was caught last August in eastern Oregon. He lived at the edge of a small town, in a vacant lot with high weeds, under an abandoned building. At the edge of the lot was sagebrush desert on two sides. On one side there was a creek and small oasis, so he had IDEAL conditions.
When collected he was 42 inches long.
How old do you guess him? Three years? Four years?? Other???
Wild caught snakes are really hard to tell the age of but @ 42" I would guess around 4 or 5. The largest snake from that region I've found was right around 5' and from the battle wounds I'd guess he'd been around awhile.
