Hi-

Everyone has there own color preference. When the Tamatave was first imported I am sure it was very popular, just like the Ambilobe is now. My personal favorites are Sambava and Ambilobe, but all the pardalis locales are awesome. Hope this helps!

I think That Tamatave's are awesome! To find a reptile that is mostly red with a white outline is just fantastic! If it isn't very popular, I can't understand why either. Just for the record, what made you surmise that Tamatave's aren't very popular?

The thing I don't like as much about Tamataves is that when they're not excited, there's nothing too attractive about them. I'll have to say Nosy Be's because they're good looking day in and day out.

Who told you that they are not popular?
We have had red panthers since we started keeping panthers. We have breeding pairs and will most likely continue to have breeding pairs.

We also have most of other the panther morphs... but hubby and I do love the reds.

i have a nice dilema, i thoughti bought a male tamatave. it is a female, after seeing more chams, i think i am partial to the amiblobes, sambavas, but pretty much all of the panthers are awesome, some moreso but every locale seems to have a select few that are just amazing, could be new blood, not sure,

When they are young - there is usually no guarantee on sexing. Some breeders are better at it than others, so yours is not an unusual story.

Perhaps you could sell the female and look for a replacement. We have even traded chams with people.... so you might find someone that will trade you a male for your female.

I assumed from looking for breeders and the limited amount of breeders that have tamatave's, that they are not that popular. I see ambanja's for sale and nosey be's all the time and they sell really quickly. when I do see tamatave's they dont seem to sell quickly either. am I wrong in my assumptions?

Actually, there have been several ads in the Kingsnake classifieds for tamataves... have you checked it out?

We have a few tamatave clutches incubating, and are looking to add another breeding pair to our ever-growing colony. We like that red...
