Honduran Eggs running late?

TJ. Oct 02, 2008 10:42 AM

Hi all. I'm beginning to worry about my Tangerine Honduran eggs. They were laid on June 25 (really late this year) and I think they are still in the safe zone for hatching (at cooler temps, of course) but was just wondering: What is the record length of time it has taken for Hondo eggs to hatch? Any breeders out there record any that have taken longer than 75 days? Most of my eggs still look good...just getting the usual last minute jitters! Thanks. TJ from (already frosty!!!) southern Minnesota.

Hondo eggs will often take 75 days or more to hatch if your incubating temps are a little under 80 degrees. I incubate at 79 to 80 degrees and mine often take just over 70 days to hatch.

longest!

The only other time I've had issues with eggs not hatching promptly were:

when the neonates were deformed (and wouldn't have hatched anyway).

or

when the eggs got too moist (which happened to me for the first time this year).

Good luck...

TJ, no worries.I had a buddy in Michigan years ago ( Steve Behling)that just shelved his eggs in his basement and he had hondo eggs go 100 days every year.
