Some Az snake gems from 2008 Xtreme DUW

For those that may not have seen these before, here are some results from various excursions into the Az wilderness this year...enjoy.

California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula californiae)

Banded Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum cinctum)

Arizona Ridgenose Rattlesnake (Crotalus willardi willardi)

Banded Rock Rattlesnake (Crotalus lepidus klauberi)

Mexican Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus kennerlyi)

Desert Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula splendida)

Sonoran Gopher Snake (Pituophis cantifer affinis)

Twin-spotted Rattlesnake (Crotalus pricei pricei)

I've had the good fortune of getting out quite a bit this year...was able to mark quite a few "lifers" off the list, and had a blast doing it too!

Those are awsome pics. I have always wanted to go herping in Az. My brother and I almost got time this year to do it, but didn't work out. Maybe next year. He used to work at the RiverBanks Zoo in Columbia,Sc., so he had some leads on good areas.

The species diversity here in Az is outstanding. Depending on what species one wants to see, one need only travel a few hours time to put themselves in the habitat. While some species are more readily seen than others, Az has a little something for everyone...

Don't mean to rub it in, but you found a Hog and all I found were 3 DOR's this year.

You just HAD to throw down the Oxybelis pics didn't ya? Just rub in the fact that I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to find this species why dontcha! Well, as you have thrown down the proverbial herp gauntlet, I hereby respond by posting even more photos of the Mexican hoggie I found ALIVE earlier this year! SO THERE!!!!
