Power balls

exoticball Oct 02, 2008 03:08 PM

I have seen very few pics of power balls, aka super spot nose, and it seems that not a whole lot of people are interested in them or maybe they just don't know of them. Is their some genetic difficulties to this morph that keeps them from being so popular?

Just wondering,
matt

Well... either people are used to the co-doms prices dropping fast so they are waiting... or they are just not that impressed with the morph. The more popular morphs are always the ones with the more extreme color or pattern mutation. Maybe they are just not that 'crazy' looking for most?

I think it is because not many powerballs have been bred. The spotnose morph is still a fairly new morph and hasn`t been mixed with too many other mophs. And i disagree with the idea that "since it`s a codom people aren`t interested". I think very few people have sold females when they have hatched out their babies, which in turn makes it take longer for large amounts of powerballs to hit the market.I think there is a huge market for spots and they will be in an even higher demand once the powerball crosses start hitting the forums. Just my .02.

They have but how many supers have been up for sale.

good question, but how do we all know if they are even being produced?

previous poster said they were fairly new, they are not.

Actually they are FAIRLY new. When was the first powerball produced??? When was the first spotnose available for sale? When was the first powerball available for sale? I`m not saying the morph was proven in the past two years, but i`m saying there is still alot that hasn`t been done with it. I didn`t say it was a new morph, but i`ve been in the game long enough to know the possibilities.

The original Powerball produced by VPI in 05 was stunning -- the ones that followed -- IMO - not as impressive. Don't know if selective breeding is why the first one turned out as nice as it did -- but the others just didn't hold a candle to it.

I'm not sure if I'd say the powerball is as interesting to me as crosses with a spotnose....but someday I could definitely see producing super spots to make the odds of producing spots and spot combos better.

I have seen the pics of the VPI one and I would agree it is awesome. I have seen a good amount of spot noses on the market. I guess it just take me by surprise that you don't see power balls out there I have yet to see one up for grabs as well. However what also surprises me the fact that spot noses are rather cheep compared to some of the other morphs which made me think more people would be working with them.

Maybe there are just a lot of people that think spot noses are only normals with a spot on the tip of the nose and a kind of cool head pattern, like it is just a normal nothing to special. I don't know.

I think the main problem has been that this was the year they dropped, and became affordable to work with. That being said not many people have invested in the morph and made it a cornerstone project. Its only been 3 years since the powerball was produced barely time for the females produced in 05 and 06 to get up to breeding size, and I don't believe any powerballs have been for sale. I have no doubt that next year we'll start to see powerballs and interesting crosses for sale. And the year after will be even better for me should have some of the combos breeding making triple and quadruple mutations. I'm excited about the potential of the projects. And more interested in what the powerballs bring to the table combined with other morphs.

THOSE PowerBalls look muuuch different than the first PowerBall hatched by VPI.

VPI's looked like a reduced-pattern Zebra....

Compare those PowerBalls to the Spotnose on VPI's website... (link below)

I don't see a drastic difference in appearance, sorry.
You know what they say about opinions though...lol

Produced/photographed by Tracy and Dave Barker of VPI.

Hats off to them on this beauty.

It would be VERY tough to say for sure it was dead in that pic. We know the PowerBall is for real so why the big stink? I think like MOST morphs they will be variable so I wouldn't be surprised if at some point soon somebody makes another one just as nice as Tracy's first one , thereby proving it wasn't a premature baby at all.. Things happen, snakes get out of tubs, or whatever , the more you have the more likely something is going to go wrong , accidents happen, that's why we call them accidents! I plan on putting that gene into a few things as I think it's cool, that project is still very young... Anthony McCain..
