'08 pastel hypo Hog Island

Redmoon Oct 04, 2008 06:13 AM

We've had this snake for a couple weeks, but we were waiting for her to shed to introduce her to everyone. This is my wife's first boa, Venus, a pastel hypo Hog Island. She was pestering me to get her own baby to raise, because my adult female Hog Island hates her. We were looking to pick up another pure Hog, but MAN was I thrilled when she saw this snake & wanted her! I didn't even have to try to talk her into it.

We got Venus from Dennis Cook, of Algar Reptiles. She's our newest snake, but she's already one of our favorites, and we're really excited to have her. We really can't wait to see her grow up!

I tried to get a couple pics under different lighting, so you could get a better idea of her true colors. You all know how hard it is to get a boa to show how pink it really is in pics.

Here she is with one of my hypo Colombians, to show the contrast, and show how strong the Hog Island influence is.

This little girl just amazes me. . . I really understand where the name "salmon" comes from in the line of hypos!

Thanks for looking!

Dennis produced some beautiful babies this year...I have a couple of his 2007 Pastel Hogs, both are showing incredible color already.
Congrats!

He really did produce some gorgeous babies. I really can't say enough good about Dennis, or the quality of his animals. He's a great guy, with even better snakes, and I'm thrilled to have one of his.
