Her parents are doing good maybe Clay will post on them. I'm kicking myself for selling them, the only Pit I have right now is my Sonoran Gopher. I'm thinking about some nice NJ northerns though, my other snakes are rad but not Pits lol.

I personally would give her 3 years before breeding but I'm sure she could do it in 2. Maybe next year if you brumate this winter.

Definitely put them together before the post-brumation shed, Here's a pick of them locked up during.

Yo Nate,

Snakes are doing great... If Loki's female was that clutch I got that pair from no way are they ready. I would give her one more FULL year. So, don't breed her this year, or next year. But the 2010 season.

I love the parents, she never dropped eggs. She sure looked like it though, but never dropped. My Leucistic Northers dropped, I did not expect them though. When I got them I was like, DAMN they're skinny, I am gonna bulk her up this year and not breed her until next... Then one day I smelled milk (egg smell to me) and opened her cage up and found several eggs (around 10 or so). I was not prepared to deal with them though so I let 'em go... you know my story Bro,

Glad to see you are back on the computer! Get any new snakes?

Also, she would probably be big enough mid 09 to late 09 but that's maybe and to be safe give just her an additional season to mature.

Clay,
Leucistic NORTHERNS? who made those? I'm not a big morph fan but there's something about an all white Pit that's pretty cool.

I'm surprised she never dropped eggs. It's funny cause she was brumated 3 months the last time I bred her and only 2 months this time, weird.

No new snakes for me all I'm waiting for is more Spilotes and Pseustes to become available. I've got some snakes on the horizon so I'll keep you posted.

Yeah and wait another 2 years on that female LOKI.

Yeah, I feel ya on the morphs. However pits do come in some pretty cool colors/patterns. I got the Northerns because they get huge and yeah, a solid white snake is pretty nice to look at. Especially contrasted to the black pines.

My northerns have a lot of pinks on them and then some paridox-ish type spots (black spots on the skin, scales remain white). Only one golf ball size spot on each. I've seen this on other northern morphs. Pretty much the only thing I am going by that they are not mis-labeled southerns.
E-mail me.

Brumate as per all N.American colubrids.
Do not wait for the post Brumation shed. Put the pair together immediately.
My 2 cents.

I'd never wait for a first or second shed as seen in some colubrids because my females never did it, lol. After brumation I made sure to feed the females well and approximately 4 weeks after brumation ended I started to introduce a male. Except for feeding I kept the pairs together for most of the spring or until there was a certain sign of disinterest. Either I was too busy to notice, mating activity was too subtle to notice or mating occurred when I was not around- I have never actually seen black pines mate, but always got good eggs. Go figure.

some of the coolest snakes you can find for sure.

I agree with what the others have said about brumating them as you would any North American colubrid and not waiting for a shed before introducing them. If kept in the same room, the male will become very active when the female is ready to breed, and this is when they can be introduced.
