Ringer genetic ?!

semina Oct 05, 2008 08:32 AM

Hello,
Appr. 5 years ago we were in Germany where I bought 1.2
ringers. Last year I got 5 eggs from ringer X ringer. They gave 2.2 ringers
and 1 normal. Please see the link:
http://members.lycos.nl/corallus/studies2.html .
All four of them have the same pattern on the back and a lot of orange and
yellow on the belly.
This year I bred 1 Fire with the ringer mother and got 4 eggs. They appeared
to be 1 normal, 1 ringer, 1 Fire and 1Fire/ringer. See the pictures below.
The Fire/ringer has more white-yellow alongside the belly, and not more
black on the underside..
This year I also bred the father with normal: 5 eggs, they all hatched. All
of them are normal. So the conclusion is that the mother ringer is genetic!
Hopefully I can breed the mother ringer with a son! And look what comes out
of it. I'll just have to wait and see. Exciting.

Best regards

They almost look like super low white pieds. They are definetly keepers. Congrats.
