Eggs finally

gekkotans Oct 06, 2008 08:33 AM

After a long time since my last post, my desert king finally laid her eggs. At least most of them.

When I woke up yesterday I checked her cage and saw 2 eggs and she was layind the 3rd. Then I went out and when I returned there were 3 more. After some time she left the egg laying box and then I placed the egg in a container with moist vermiculite, but I noticed the snake still have one egg in her and it wasnt laid until this morning. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about that?
Thanks a lot

as long as she laid it i dont see a problem... she probably took a break... laying eggs is hard work. personally, i only worry when a snake has past a few days(more than 48 hours) and still has eggs... and they are not getting close to the vent... but your case- everything sounds good

Thanks kin
I think weird as she didnt came back to humid box once she left it. She is very thin after laying. Should I offer her food today or wait for the end of whole process of layin?

some snakes dont want anything to do with the eggs once they lay.... others will lay with the eggs.... If you want you can offer her a small meal. she more than likely wont take it... offer a fuzzy or weanling.... nothing large like an adult mouse or rat... more than likely she may take a larger prey item but regurgitate soon after b/c of the stress she has gone though. which is why i usually wait til after they shed... but if she is deathly skinny you can offer her something small..
