i also do have a question. Jeff, in the caresheet you sent along, you said to change the substrate as it gets moldy. How often should i change it? (i am using eco earth from zoo med)

Matt,
...It kind of depends on how humid it is and how much mold grows. BRBs pass more liquid urine than other snakes and so you may have the urine smell indicating a need to change the substrate before it molds. In the boxes where I keep my baby BRBs I use paper towel substrate and it gets changed every couple of days.

right now i am using heavy ikea soup bowls. they are 4-5" in diameter. i wanted to use eco earth because using these bowls, putting them on the hot side doesn't evaporate the water too well. i might try using small plastic containers and newspaper.
