breeding pairs

LordBaal Oct 08, 2008 10:02 PM

I read and read, and every now and then I hear about breeding a guy back to its mother, or as bellow, "hoping for a pair but they are both guys"
Is genetic diversity not a problem with balls?
I am just curious
Thanks

This could be a long heated debate. So I'll answer this as simply as I can:

Yes, genetic diversity is important. It is in any living organism. However, with snakes it is less important that it is in people or other "higher" life forms. Generally, breeders engage in this practice to isolate a gene and determine how it is inherited, after that point most people will out cross their stock to ensure some sort of genetic diversity is attained.
