Could anyone please point me in the right direction to learn about punnet squares. I understand what they do (I think) but not how to do it. Also are there any websites just about hybrids ?

The spelling is "Punnett", with two "t"s.

Essentially, a Punnett square is a method to produce each possible combination of genes. It's useful as a learning tool, but the branching system is better for heavy duty work. I don't know of any web site that explains the branching system. It's not hard though; an automobile odometer is an example of a branching system.

One can find gene lists for guinea pigs, gerbils and just about anything else on the net but it has been very frustrating trying to find anything more than "primers" on snakes. I understand you are working on a cornsnake gene list. Could you perhaps post it here where we can cuss, discuss and develop a generally agreed upon list with phenotype descriptions. Once such a list is developed, it should be extend it to other snakes that have the same gene loci.
I have not had any luck finding karyotypes for North American snakes. If you know of any, I'd appreciate your letting me know.
Is your dad still alive?
Hope it helps
