Here are a few pics of Tribals and though they may somewhat resemble Deserts, they are not the same.

I would say your tribals look like deserts?

If that be the case you may just have the first Desert Carmel.

That thing is INSANE looking WOW.

I thought Desert Carmel when I looked at the pic

It's got some nice color but it does seem to have a few kinks and a weird shape head - maybe it's just the picture?

Could you post another pic? It's a great looking snake, but it looks kinked in the pic you posted. The snake is alive right?

I agree, the photo makes it look kinked. As for the head, I've had some babies come out with the funky head shape, but that corrected itself after a couple of weeks.

Its a nicely patterned animal but it looks sick or dead and it definately does have a bad looking kink. But as I said very nice pattern

I don't think thats a kink but just the way the photo was taken. Would be nice to see a better pic once it sheds.

I know it's a rush to post pics of your coolest and newest morph, I do it myself all the time, but to put up a pic of a kinked, dead or almost dead hatchling?

I respectfully disagree.

If the poster says it's not kinked I give him the benefit of the doubt that it could be a bad pic that just makes it look that way.

But, my main point which really isn't at all specific to this animal or this picture is that I think there is too much filtering of negative information already. The tendency for kinking in caramels is an example. Many of us already had caramel projects (admittedly mine was very humble with little invested) when the news finally broke publically about this issue. RDR was apparently the only one willing to show/talk about this imperfection. I think there will continue to be new problem morphs from time to time but keeping the issues out of the public view creates more problems and reduces the chances of finding a solution. If there is an issue it will eventually be known and delaying disclosure only increases the number of stock holders who will be affected when it does become public. And early public discussion of the issues might result in someone coming up with a solution and reduce the number of affected animals created.

wow Kieth...
tough crowd !
having seen your tribal morph at white plains, and knowing the quality of the other animals you've brought to that show in the past, i'm comfortable with your assessment of your own animal.
however i too would encourage you to post other pics, not to satiate the naysayers, but so that i can see more of it...that sucker is hot !
good luck with it.

As a dog breeder for 20 yrs and a frustrated photographer of my own animals for that long...I can honestly say that the camera can distort any living creature including humans! I usually have to take well over 50 pix just to get 1-2 that the dogs or cats dont have their eyes closed, funny looking ears,tail,legs..etc.always something..It is also a trick of the trade when you want to get the broadest headshot and shortest muzzle in a pic to take it from the angle Keith used in this pic.We are new to ball pythons and have personally done buisness with Keith. He has great references as being an honest breeder. The animals we got from Keith in our package are beautiful hardy healthy and we are very pleased to have them. Keith even threw in a very large female poss het pied with markers with our pied male AND a normal fem sibling to our lessers...all 3 generations from Platty Daddy. The normal sibling has some things going on with her pattern and her belly and we are very excited to have her! Thank you Keith!Keith has been very helpful and answered many questions not only about his snakes but about breeding and keeping in general. Not everyone out there will take the time to do that. If Keith says its not kinked then I believe him. Our 1st carmel albino is coming from Keith. I have faith in his honesty.

... and I do like to take people at their word. However, the PICTURE did make the snake look "funky". Pre-shed snakes don't have any muscle control fresh out of the egg. Sometimes they can look posed -- even when they are not.

I always like to post 3 or more pics of hatchlings for that reason -- whether they are pre-shed or post -shed. The Tribal base morph on his link looks sweet, and does in my opinion, "resemble" a Desert -- a good thing. More pics -- that's the ticket!!!!
