Haha. I never even think to listen to their CDs anymore. They were great though, except for the last one. Sucks they disintegrated. Too bad Korn's numbers have diminished too.

Must be from slightly different generations. That Emo crap is so weak. That's what my 9 year old daughter listens to. I don't pay attention to anything considered to be "Rock" these days. That garbage they play on ALL radio is just pathetic. Kid Rock still has some integrity, but he infused too much Country. I just can't take that damn twang. Metal is still alive in some places. Same with hip hop, but it's either the veterans, or the people directly influenced by them. New music just blows. I'm pretty much strictly Underground these days. 98% of what I listen to doesn't know the definition of airplay.
Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks emo blows... I tend to keep my radio tuned to Sirius 24 - 90's alternative... I know, I know, showin my age a little bit, but who cares...

too damn "rappy". it begins and ends with SLAYER! with PANTERA in between. did real metal die with dimebag? emo sux! rap disguised as metal is just as bad. motorhead, cliff era metallica, cannibal corpse (and six feet under), sepultura. damn, i feel old, but still own a pit!
I agree. I respect anything with balls and honesty. But I was born in 1980. Me and hip-hop grew up together, so that's just what gives me the hardest eargasm.
I've been thinking lately about how so many people I know idolize Jim Morrison, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. While that is undeniably INCREDIBLE music, it's our parents music. I don't understand how you truly love music that you weren't actually around to experience while it was happening. It's all second hand. To each their own I guess. But to me, music is too great to settle for something that's not really "mine".
I forgot to mention, my very first favorite bands were Guns N' Roses, Megadeth, Metallica, Motley Crue, little bit of Ozzy, Poison, Ugly Kid Joe, even Warrant, Haha
That was when I was like 7 years old. I got reprimanded in 3rd grade for a G N' R art project. But also got suspended in 5th grade for having a 2 Live Crew tape in the cafeteria. Music is the most addictive drug in the world.
I've been listening to Metallica, BLS, Guns & Roses, Megadeth, Grateful Dead, Motley Crue, Pink Floyd (just to name a few)... all these amazing true rock bands since I was a kid.
And I'm only 21, I'm a young buck. But I think that's what makes the music great -- is the fact that it speaks to all generations. Have you ever been to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert? You've got 7 year-olds to 75 year-olds at those shows. Ozzy is the same. I don't think it makes the younger listener's enthusiasm cheap, I think that's what makes the music legend.
Than again, I have never liked ICP, Twiztd, or Cottonmouth Kings, LoL.
And I can appreciate a lot of newer rock too. You want new-generation good, hard rock?? Here you go:

I just woke up and this is a great thread! Very entertaining, I haven't listened to that Limp Bizkit song in YEARS. That song came out when I was in 7th grade and it really got me into "harder" music. This pretty much summed up my high school music career-

And then of course-

I agree this is a pretty good thread, I am a huge metal fan from the older 6 feet under, nail bomb, sepultura, 80's metallica etc to some of the newer stuff. One of the most talented newer bands (they are 3 cd's into it now) in my opinion is between the buried and me. Check these guys out

Cool thread. Nice to see people still listening to the heavy stuff. Heres some really "underground" bands that I think are very talented. The last one might a little hard to listen too if your not used to it

I've always been a sucker for the desert phases. I just love the way B&W looks on a snake. About 7 years ago now, I found a baby one in a local pet shop that was absolutely PERFECTLY banded. $60, so I couldn't resist. This was the first colubrid I had had in years. At that time, I had a lot of different pythons and boas, and of course my beloved Copperheads. I got it home and set it down on a table while I was arranging it's box. I turned my head for literally 5 seconds, and when I turned back around, it was just GONE. No sign of it whatsoever. I eventually figured it set a new land speed record at diving off the table and disappearing into the wall via the heating vent.
10 months went by, and over that time I had moved out of my mother's house. One night out of nowhere she calls me in the middle of the night. I was partying with friends at the moment, so I didn't answer it. She called back a few minutes later and said her boyfriend had just dropped MY 10 pound weight on a little black and white snake's head. Because I didn't answer, she just gave him the blessing to whack my snake. If I had answered the phone the first time, what would she have done with it until I got there, ya know? Still chaps my ass. That was a beautiful snake. Still have never found one like it, and believe me I've looked......We back on topic yet? Guess nobody cares anyway. Cool.
My b&w was the first snake I got and his banding is almost perfect... I've had him a little over 3 years, and he's just been a dream to keep...
That really sucks about what happened to yours... The little guys are definatly quick... My other Cali got away from me once because I was an idiot and didn't put the lid back on her cage, but I got lucky and found her the next day...
My ball I just acquired from a friend who's had him over 8 years and got married and his wife wouldn't let him keep it, so I adopted... He's pretty mellow, but his health isn't the greatest... I'm hopin with some better care he'll bounce back quick though...

Oh your god country music has got to be the lamest stuff ever. And dont get me wrong I grew up listening to country from my mothers family. I was born in 75 I love Zep and Pink Floyd, Doors and blah blah blah, but the 90's era of music was by far the best. Bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam and a few others changed music from the androgynous 80's long hair chic looking guys to great great music (not to say some of the bands like GNR and Metallica) didnt have great songs. I prefer the 90's Metallica to the older stuff from them such as Unforgiven, Memory Remains and such. Just my opinion

I have a LITTLE respect for Kurt Cobain's poetry now at 27, but when he blew his brains out when I was 13, I felt the same sick detachment as any redneck hearing Pac and Biggie died. And even with that slight respect I have for him now, I still have no clue what the whiny little dirtball was ever actually talking about.
Well, he is whiny...

as far as Kurt's lyrics are concerned, I guess thats all that heroin hard at work. Kind of Dillonesque though maybe the 90's will live on like the 70's great bands from both eras.

I never understood how anybody could actually like Limp Bizkit. Perhaps Fred Durst's terrible vocals inspired other untalented people to pick up a mic, sing off key, and call it rock, who knows? The only good member of that band was Wes Borland, and he was smart enough to leave them. I haven't heard from Limp Bizkit since then...
If you want a talented vocalist to follow, look up Maynard James Keenan and any of his projects, such as Tool and A Perfect Circle.
