Lonely or just my imagination?

xelda Sep 06, 2003 10:22 PM

I replaced the paper towels in my 10 gallon tank yesterday. I guess without all the hides and furniture in there, Lisa could see her reflection. She kept running over to the same side of the tank to check it out. I've seen my other leos (male and female) wave their tails at their own reflections, so I thought it was peculiar that Lisa would be so darn attracted to hers. Any ideas as to why?

She's doing great, by the way. Got her weight back on just fine, eats mealies now, and her eggs are A-OK! Today marks their second week, and there's no sign of any problems. I had a dream last night that one of them started denting. Oh my gosh, it was horrible. lol

I doubt she'd be lonely, leos do fine by themselves and dont require a cagemate. I dont think reptiles can really feel emotions like that. she looks great by the way, later

Tell that to Bearded Dragons who do best when in colony situations...they're very sociable animals.. Geckos would probably live in loose "bands" in the wild with one male and several females, around the same rocks and food source. Alot of lizards are highly interactive animals.. Iguana's actually do well in group situations after dominance is sorted out. They can feel "lonely" We are no adequate substitute for others of their species when we're talking about animals that would live in close distance with one another.

I think that leos an feel emotion. If they didnt have feelings why would some females fight back when the males are trying to mate. I believe my female is very emotional, ever since she got pregnant she has been real protective of her belly and wants to be held all the time.

I have to agree. I think animals can sense emotions we're not capable of comprehending and vice versa.
