hi i am somewhat new but i personally went with freedom breeder, just because quality, (price didn't matter either), very easy to interchange, easily set up, and lastly great reputation. Just look at breeders who have been in the business longer than others they seem to use freedom breeder rather than vision, thats my opinion.

ARS

The comparison should be Freedom Breeder and ARS for professional rack systems. Vision isn’t even in the same league.

Some of the nicest most functional racks I have ever seen have been homemade.. Why spend $500 or $900 or even more on a rack you can build by your self with minimum tools and minimum effort for less then half the price.. A lot of snake keepers can't afford name brand racks that's basically what you pay for the name. I personaly built all my racks and they work fine, look good, and serve their purpose.. I'm sure some people disagree but that's life.. I built my rack which is identical to yours for half the price and it has my NAME on it!
Best of luck to everyone this upcoming season!!!

If you know where to look, you can build a 10 space rack for around $100. I built 4 of them. Look to millwork shops in your area and ask about commercial grade melamine. It's a bit heavy, but they should be able to cut it for you and save you a ton of money. Figure out what you need and take it to them.

HEAVY!

I have a 14 unit melamine in my basement that I think it would take 4 guys to move out so I'll just leave it there for hatching season overflow.

But it looks nice and is washable so I used it in my new snake room too. But the design I used there which would only work for small collections avoids a heavy single unit. What I did was to make shelves that span a small room (54 inches wide). Each shelf slides in a routered 2X4 attached to the wall. I don't have to buy or lift extra melamine for the sides or back so my per tub cost for the “rack” is about $4 not including heating or the room it's self (or the sweater boxes moved from my old rack). It was still a lot of work (I attach rails to the edges of the 49 inch wide melamine to extend it enough to get three 28 quart tubs in a level) and requires that your room be just the right width and it’s not very portable should I ever move.

I have both. For adults, I like the FB just because that is what I have always had and like just having one controller for the 10 levels.

I have a Vision 60 tub hatchling rack, that I really like and you can not beat the price.

FB is very expensive, so if I add to my adult racks, I will probably add Vision...

I have FB, Vision and home made. Vision is the best of those 3. It has more efficient and variable heating, better humidity control and is lighter and therefore easier to move around. Also none of the bins are difficult to slide in and out like they are in the FB racks.
