prefab plastic racks by sterilite?

king_crazy Oct 11, 2008 03:10 AM

Anyone ever use these prefab drawer kit storage units from sterilite instead of racks? They're cheaper than having PVC racks shipped to your house. Would they be escape proof? I think it would be easy to run flexwatt up the back of the unit, drill holes in the fronts of the drawers, and add a tsat and you'd be done right? Check out the link and please let me hear your thoughts.

I've looked at those and one problem comes to mind. The top of the drawer is molded with ribs. Knowing snakes, one could lodge itself up there and prevent the drawer from opening properly. Or maybe even get injured in the process.

Dave has it right on all the larger ones and it would scare me a little. Now the Craft cart modile would make an awesome hatchling rack as the lids snap down.

Forget it for colubrids. Now maybe for thick snakes like ball pythons and such.. Still, there are gaps, and the plastic is easily bent to accomodate escape. You can try it, but I have a feeling you will be happier with the racks meant for snakes.

Glad you pointed those things out - I was ready to go out and buy some! Thanks again!
