Hey Dan,
Nice photos! I really enjoyed them. Garters are some of my favorite snakes to find in the field. You have a nice variety out where you live.
I hope the winter isn't too brutal for you!
Thanks for sharing your photos.

Thanks Casey! I'm glad you have enjoyed my posts this season, keep an eye out for more of them starting next April, I'm sure I will be finding a ton as I NEVER stop herping.
Dan

Hi Dan,
Yes, all of your posts are great! I also like the ones with the bears in them. We found this little guy while looking for garters in my neck of the woods.
I need to dig through some of my photos and get them up here.
It's going to be a long winter...
Casey

Man thats cool, I love seeing the young bears. I see a few black bears each year while herping, but have only ever seen 2 small ones. One cub I found was rolling down a hill, it was hilarious!
Looking forward to seeing your field pics.
Dan

Those were all great! Thanks for posting.

Thank you

Dan, either you have built some kind of high tech snake radar, or you have tons of snakes running around all over the place in your area. I suspect you have a lot of snakes in the area, but no doubt you have SUPER MEGA SKILLS to find them so consistantly. I think your nick-name should be "the superman of field herping". Once again thanks for sharing.

Yea there is alot, its just too bad it dosnt stay warmer a little longer here. I did find a little red sided on my lunch break today though, it was only 48 degrees out.
Dan

yeah it was about the same temps here today, I just got back last night from 15 days in Hawaii too, celebrated our 5th wedding aniversary. I think i'm in thermo shock, I felt like going into brumation myself today, sad thing is it's only the beginning of the bitter cold and ice and snow to come here in Iowa. Sunday it's supposed to get down in the 20s, I just hope we don't loose power during an ice storm again this winter, that really sucks for a reptile room. You guys get a lot of snow too, but you usually avoid those bull@#$% ice storms though don't you?
