EDMONTON JOURNAL (Alberta) 12 October 08 Yes, indeed, superheroes live among us (Terry McConnell)
Mister Trouble never hangs around/ When he hears this mighty sound./ "Here I come to save the day!"/
That means that Mighty Mouse is on his way.
Just a cartoon, you say? Hah! Think again, pilgrim. Mighty Mouse lives -- and he's still kicking Mister Trouble's butt.
These days, Mighty Mouse resides in Nantou, Taiwan, where he recently showed a 35-cm snake that he had "the situation well in hand."
The viper, which was 14 inches long for those of you who are metrically challenged, had been captured by firefighters in Nantou and put into a mouse cage for safekeeping.
"We then found it a mouse for lunch," one of the firefighters told the Apple Daily. Ah, but the robust rodent didn't go quietly. In fact, it didn't go at all.
"It attacked the snake continuously, biting and scratching it," said the fire guy. After a vicious 30-minute battle, the snake was dead and Mighty Mouse had nary a scratch.
"Perhaps it was a novice predator," chief firefighter Lan Sengqiu suggested. We know better.
'Cause we know that where there's danger/ He is there! He is there!
Yes, indeed, superheroes live among us
